Buffalo circa 1920, W.H. Dentzel I |
The American Bison or Buffalo has always fascinated the public with its looks and reputation, so much so that we have it on our Nickel. The Dentzels were probably the only carousel manufacturers in the world to put this beast on to a carousel. They even had one of their buffaloes painted as an albino, underscoring the family's long held interest in native American beliefs. The white buffalo is giving rides to this day on the carousel at Glen Echo Park, Maryland. |
